Light therapy uses light to treat various ailments and conditions.

LED Light Therapy was pioneered by researchers from NASA interested in aiding cell rejuvenation for their astronauts.

Different wavelengths of light are visually perceived as different colors. Some wavelengths penetrate the skin and muscle tissue further than others, and the effects have shown significant results in treating injuries, illnesses, dermatological ailments, and circadian rhythms.

At the core of your body’s healing capabilities are the mitochondria. The mitochondria play a vital role in your internal organs, skin tissue and even muscles. It’s in charge of the body’s energy supply via ATP (adenosine triphosphate).

This is why you’ll often hear the mitochondria referred to as the “powerhouse of the cell.” ATP boosts the skin’s performance and gives the cells its fuel. Light is absorbed by the skin and triggers the cells into producing more of this cellular fuel.

This increased energy also increases DNA-RNA activity and releases Nitric Oxide (NO) within the body. The release of NO helps the skin to heal, regenerate and combat inflammation.

The various colours from the light spectrum can be used to treat various kinds of skin problems. Hospitals and medical centers around the world have already been using light therapy for years to treat and cure skin diseases and skin problems.

LED light therapy causes skin cells to use their energy to activate fibroblasts and produce more collagen and elastin proteins that stimulate the body’s rejuvenating processes.

Light therapy has also been found to impact our mental health and biological clock it is used for general wellness and health, and it is safe and non-invasive.

Some of the studied effects of Light therapy include:

1. Reduced inflammation[1]

2. Increased tissue repair[2]

3. Reduction of pain[3]

4. Increased collagen production[4]

5. Increased blood flow[5]

6. Reduced Stress Levels[6]

7. Improved Sleep Quality[7]

8. Improved dermatological diseases[8]

On average it takes about two to twelve weeks for light therapy to have significant effect. It is important to be patient and consistent with light therapy to feel its full benefits.

Consult a medical professional before using any type of light therapy as it could cause injury if not done correctly.
